But today I had to report for jury duty. I arrived at 7:30 am so could get a parking spot in the free juror parking lot. I made my way to the courthouse, through the metal detectors and to the juror gathering room. I was to arrive by 8:30 am. Since I got her a little early I was able to check in quickly and get a little desk next to the wall with an outlet. I waited and waited until a little after 9 they started to explain the process and had a watch a video about juror service. But in the middle of the video one of the judges came to chat with us. They stopped the video so he could talk and answer questions. He seemed very nice and put everyone at ease. He left and they restarted the video. After the video they started calling names to line up. The first group was about 50 people. The next group was about 20. I didn't get called. After the second group left we were told to hang tight, get a drink or snack and wait. About 45 minutes went by and they started to call names again. This group would be reporting to a judge with some special circumstances but I never found out exactly what. I was called in this group. We were told we could leave for now but had to report back at 1:30. So, here I sit waiting. Luckily there is free wi-fi so I'm able to do some family history research, send some emails, and catch up on my blog.
I'm so bad at this blog thing. I'm hoping in the future I will be able to look back at these entries and remember. It will be fun to see what I was doing since I have a terrible memory.
